Our categories have been designed to reflect the key areas of our business together with our values of partnership, innovation, community and responsibility, recognising the hard work that is undertaken by colleagues and teams every day in pursuit of these values.

 

Partnership

This award recognises those colleagues or teams that have achieved something unique and lasting, which builds value for our partners and supports them in realising their vision.

Achievements in this category may include;

  • Forming a new relationship with stakeholders e.g. contractors or Universities
  • Strengthening an existing partnership
  • Working collaboratively with other departments and people within the business

 

Above and Beyond behaviour

  • Actively works with other teams in partnership, sharing ideas and supporting joint efforts for the benefit of UPP

 

Innovation

This award recognises those colleagues or teams whose ideas to improve our product or service - big or small - have made a real difference to our residents, partners and employees.

Achievements in this category may include;

  • Delivering results on a project that changes the way we work
  • Innovative approaches to team work

  • Actively encourages and seeks opportunities to generate and implement ideas to improve UPP

UPP Foundation Community Award

This award recognises the colleagues and teams who are dedicated to developing supportive communities and investing in those within which we work, building mutually beneficial relationships for employees, students and the public good.

Achievements in this category may include;

  • Organising charitable initiatives at work
  • Ensuring our business, buildings and operations consider the local community

Student Experience

UPP's vision is to deliver the very best student experiences, in partnership with great universities. This award recognises the colleagues and teams who keep student experience at the heart of everything they do, ensuring our residents have the highest levels of satisfaction with our accommodation and our service.

Achievements in this category may include;

  • Creating a great welcome at intake or on the students’ first day
  • Providing support to students who are experiencing difficulties of any kind
  • Improving our facilities and the services we deliver

Wellbeing

This award celebrates a colleague or team who inspires trust and mindfulness, keeping the environment together with people's wellbeing and safety at the forefront of everything they do.

Achievements in this category may include;

  • Implementing new work practices that have improved safety or wellbeing
  • Consistent recognition via the Wellbeing ‘positive acknowledgement’ cards
  • Consistently reporting near misses, accidents or injuries and taking action to reduce risks to colleagues and students.
  • Recommending changes to the way we do things at UPP that improve Wellbeing at work

This award is not only for managers. Anyone can inspire and lead and bring others together to create an idea, project or opportunity.

This award recognises the Rising Stars of UPP; colleagues who show the potential to lead in the future, provide ideas that will keep us ahead of the competition and help us build ever stronger partnerships.

Unsung Hero

This award celebrates those colleagues or teams who get the critical jobs done and are not always in the limelight.

At UPP there are teams and individuals we just couldn’t live without; an army of assistants, administrators, support functions and others, working tirelessly to keep the business running.

Achievements in this category may include;

  • Constantly supporting you and your team, keeping everything going in the background so you can deliver what you need to
  • Being the glue of the team but not seeking the limelight
  • Keeping things going like clockwork - planning meetings, making sure people turn up, sending round updates and checking on actions
  • Assisting us to win bids or achieve standards and accreditations

The success and growth of our Company depends on an effective and positive work ethos and commitment of our people and this award celebrates the individual whose contribution really goes Above and Beyond.

  • Supporting others in an exceptional manner
  • Always identifying new ideas and opportunities for improvement

Outstanding Teamwork

This award recognises outstanding teamwork. The success and growth of our company depends on collaboration and positive team work and this award celebrates those doing it right.

Interdepartmental, project and functional teams of 20 colleagues or less could all be nominated for this award. The team could consist of colleagues who work together on a permanent basis as well as teams working together for a defined period of time to deliver a project or initiative.  

Achievements in this category may include;

  • Achieving excellent results due to fantastic team work
  • Utilising each team member's strengths
  • Being recognised by students, partners or other colleagues for their exceptional performance
